Product information "Liselotte von der Pfalz"

Duchess of Orléans and sister-in-law of Louis XIV. A non-conformist free spirit at the court of the Sun King

Elisabeth Charlotte von der Pfalz, born on 27 May 1652 in Heidelberg, died on 8 December 1722 near Paris. As a child, she preferred to play outside and climb trees, but of course she enjoyed a courtly upbringing, in which the teaching of religious tolerance stood out. Liselotte von der Pfalz's love of letter writing has left us with valuable, open and candid insights into court life at that time. Our homage to her is characterised by liberal thinking in a golden cage.

This coffee pays homage to a woman who maintained her independence even at the court of the Sun King. Liselotte von der Pfalz, fun-loving, keenly observant, and unconventional, grew up between courtly etiquette and free spirit. Her countless letters open an honest, blunt window into life at the French court—humorous, direct, and full of character. A life between duty and freedom that continues to fascinate to this day.
