Finca Hamburgo, Mexico
Establishment
In 1888, Arthur Edelmann from Perleberg accepted the invitation of the Mexican government to create jobs in the Soconusco area. He built the Finca Hamburgo, which was taken over by his son Harald after his death in 1933. The latter continued to expand the farm and built the first cable car in Chiapas in 1939. The farm was continued by his son Eberhard Edelmann Dopp in 1976 after the death of Harald Edelmann, who went through a difficult time for the farm due to the coffee crisis.
Current
Today the farm is run by Tomas Edelman Blass (4th generation) and his son Tomas Bruno Edelmann Toriello (5th generation), who together produce the finest coffees with fresh citrus tones in washed preparation. Over the past few years, the two have cultivated a wide range of the rarest coffee varieties, creating a high degree of biodiversity with a wide variety of shade trees.
